Opinion about Fashion/Style/Trends.
I think many people (everyday people, like me) focus on the models in fashion, not the designers, make up artists and such, behind all the creativity. So we get the wrong picture of the fashion industry and ideals. If you’re interested in style, you shouldn’t just watch stunning models and what they’re wearing, but watch interviews/read articles about the people behind the scene. You want to learn to think like a creative person, not watch an image and just copy it.
I’m not a big it-girl, not at all, but I like to feel pretty and comfortable in my own skin. I got big boobs and wide hips, so I rarely wear clothes that only got a straight line-shape, because then I most likely would look like I was just wearing a big potato-sack or something, and maybe even look pregnant…
I take my wardrobe-inspiration from books, music and different time areas. The main influence for me always comes from The Secret Garden (book), Ramones (band) and art nouveau/jugend (around 1910 art/architechture). Right now I’m very inspired by 80’s popculture as well, and I watch a lot of horror movies/series from that time. It’s fun and very colourful, with many patterns and shapes. The Lost Boys, Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside (TV) and so on. I think my biggest crush lies on weird jewellery and pretty socks right now. You can never have too many necklaces and knee highs!!
My latest addition is a black bow tie I’d like to wear with a plain white, cotton shirt.
(Just watched an interview with the swedish designer Gunilla Pontén and felt like writing something about style… She’s amazing, and she’s right - I need more hats!)
